Every job is different. Every employee is different, too. What you might believe is the perfect assignment might be a nightmare assignment for someone else. But it’s likely that you have some assignment you believe is the best job for you. It’s your dream job. Maybe you even chose to register with the staffing firm you chose in hopes of being assigned to that client.
Here a few things you can do to get the assignment that you believe is the best assignment for you.
If you want an oppotunity to be assigned to your staffing agency’s best assignments, you are going to have to be flexible. Your staffing agency may have a solid relationship with their client, but that doesn’t mean that they will always have an open order from the client for the assignment you really want. If you are flexible and accept other assignments, your staffing agency will keep you at the top of their list when the assignment you want does open up.
Do Good Work
Your staffing agency has to send the best employees that they can find to all of their clients. If you really want a certain assignment, you are going to have to do good work on any assignment that you accept. You can’t leave an assignment with a poor review and expect to be assigned to another client.
Let Your Staffing Agency Know What You Want
If there is an assignment that you really want, let your staffing agency contacts know what that assignment is and why you want it. Your staffing agency wants to assign people that really want the to work for their clients. By telling them that you want the assignment and why you want it, you are more likely to be assigned to that client.
Be Proactively Patient
It might take some time for your staffing agency to be able to place you in your dream assignment. You may need to be paitent and wait for that assignment to come open. But you should be proactivly patient. Make sure that you call your staffing firm to check in every couple weeks to ensure that you are top of mind when the assignment does come open.
Follow these four guidelines and you will greatly improve your chances of being given the assignment you want.
